US Plane Crash Victim's Family Files Lawsuit

DALLAS ( USA ): The operator of a corporate jet sent to pick up former US President George Bush was sued by the family of a flight attendant who was killed when the plane crashed.

Relatives of Kristi Dunn filed a wrongful-death lawsuit on Monday, charging that the pilots were inexperienced with the model of jet that crashed in November 2004.

Defendants named in the lawsuit were the charter operator, Business Jet Services Ltd. of Dallas, and its managing partner, Robert J Wright; the plane's owner, The Jet Place Inc, which is controlled by Wright; and the estates of the two pilots.

An official at Business Jet Services said the company had no comment.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Dunn's husband, son and mother in state district court in Dallas .

According to the lawsuit, Wright personally arranged for his company to pick up the former president in Houston and fly him to Ecuador for USD 39,000.

On the way from Dallas to Houston , the 1984 Gulfstream jet hit a 46-metre light pole and crashed along a road more than five kilometres short of the runway, killing both pilots and Dunn.

The lawsuit charged that the pilots failed to monitor their altitude and distance from Hobby Airport and tuned to the wrong navigation frequency.
