Hazleton Woman Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit


A Hazleton woman who shared a son with a man killed in a vehicle crash in Hazleton filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver on Thursday.

Priscilla Parks, trustee to 2-month-old Javier Figueroa Jr., filed the lawsuit in Luzerne County Court against Jonathan T. Salata of Bloomsburg. Parks' son's father, Javier Figueroa Sr., Hazleton , was killed in the crash on July 17.

According to the lawsuit filed by Attorney Peter O'Donnell, Salata was driving a vehicle west on Broad Street and failed to stop for oncoming traffic while making a left turn.

Parks is seeking $100,000 on separate counts of wrongful death and survival estimated from future earnings Figueroa would have received in his lifetime.
